Literacy

Accelerated Literacy
A highly supportive approach to teaching Literacy. Texts are selected which enable teachers to teacher about language meaning and function.
Focus students are students who demonstrate KGP 3 (solid) in reading, in at least the area of comprehension.

Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS)
PECS is a language training package that enables communication skills to be taught to students with limited functional speech. PECS promotes communication within a social context.
Focus students are students who do not have a formal oral communication system and who do not easily access printed texts.

Intensive Interaction
Intensive interaction is an approach to teaching the pre-speech fundamentals of communication to students.
Focus students are students who have severe learning difficulties and who are still at an early stage of communication development.
