ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL’S REPORT

Thank you to all parents and carers who attended their child’s Transition/Education Adjustment Plan (T/EAP) progress meeting in the previous weeks. It is wonderful to discuss your child’s programs, goals and highlights of the year so far. If you still need to schedule your child’s meeting, please get in touch with your classroom teacher or the front office. Final T/EAP Reports will come home at the end of Term Four along with academic reports.
A common and growing issue discussed with many parents and carers in T/EAPs meetings was the nightly struggle to keep consistent bedtime routines, particularly with our young ones on their phones and devices. We understand, empathise, and know the struggle is real, and see the impact of tiredness the next day. See some tips below for getting back into good sleep habits and the school routine as we head towards Term 4.

- Please follow the Henbury Corporate Luncheon FB and Instagram pages, like and share posts

- Tickets are also on sale now from the front office if you are interested in attending
We wish all students and staff a very well earnt restful and safe mid-semester break! Please note students return Tuesday 6 October.

Poem by Ruby A

Forgive, But Never Forget
Here in my hand, I hold a piece of paper. It looks stupid, ugly, and weird. Did anyone notice? As I said those words the paper started scrunching up and getting smaller. I should apologize. I’m sorry paper now the paper is unscrunched and it looks different, more jagged and rough. I don’t understand why it’s not smooth again, I said sorry. Even though I said sorry my words still affected it. Words can make, break, change and even hurt people. A person is like an old oak tree that once stood tall but now it falls unable to bear the impact of the wind and fire anymore, so it falls. A person is like a wave that stays forever small and weak. A person is like a volcano unable to take the pressure of the heat and tired of bottling up its feelings until it eventually erupts and explodes. A person is like your phone’s battery life, you use and rely on it too much and it shuts down. A person is fragile and everything you say holds a place in their brain and heart so watch what you do or say because one wrong word and they break. Thank you for listening.

BEAT CHOIR
On the evening of September 3, our joint Henbury - Nemarluk choir wowed audiences at the 2025 BEAT Festival at the Darwin Entertainment Centre. This wonderfully talented group of students had the exciting experience of being part of the spectacular performance of “Tempest”. Our students sang 12 songs along with students from schools across the territory!
Well done to these students for their commitment to weekly practice and having the courage to get up on stage in front of such a large audience! The choir will continue to practice and prepare for their next performance at The Henbury Corporate Luncheon on November 28!

HELP BRISEIS WITH HER JOURNEY TO THE WORLD PARA ATHLETICS CHAMPIONSHIPS!
Briseis Brittain, is set to represent Australia at the 2025 World Para Athletics Championships in New Delhi, India this September.

Briseis will make her international debut in the 200m & 400m events as part of the largest Australian Para Athletics team since the Sydney 2000 Paralympics — a 51-strong squad set to take on the world from 26 September to 5 October.
The Australian Sports Foundation (ASF) is currently fundraising to help Briseis make her way to India. Click on the link below for more information and to make a donation:
Henbury School helped in the fundraising drive by selling raffle tickets for a hamper full of items made by our creative Enterprise Ed students. The raffle was drawn on Friday 12th by Briseis. The winner was a regular visitor to Henbury Precinct Café which was lovely to pass on.

MEANINGFUL MATHS
In Week 9 on Wednesday, Henbury held its annual Meaningful Maths Enrichment Day—now in its second successful year. Once again, the day proved to be fun, challenging, and highly engaging for all students involved.
Our Learning Commissioners took the lead in running a variety of Maths activities, showcasing their leadership skills while supporting their peers throughout the event. Each student participated in five tailored activities, designed to suit their individual learning levels and promote a love of Mathematics.
We were also fortunate to welcome Athena Hamond and Chantelle Scott, who each ran a special activity and contributed greatly to the success of the day.
A big thank you to everyone who made the event such a positive and enriching experience!
Amanda Thomas – Henbury Meaningful Maths Coordinator.

YELLOW 4

Yellow 4 has had a fantastic Term 3; so much learning, cooking, shopping, café visits, swimming and buddy classes. A highlight has been one of our English units…Pop Culture! We have been learning about different music, important people and events throughout the years. We have loved going through the decades and singing out hearts out with the karaoke machine. No surprises that our teachers Georgina, Georgie and Wandy have been blasting the 80’s tunes! Scan the QR code for our all-time favourites!

NIGHTCLIFF MIDDLE SCHOOL

PARA DOLPHINS VISIT

This week we were thrilled to host a special Q&A session with 10 incredible athletes from the Australian Para Dolphins Swim Team.

They were engaging and funny, sharing personal stories about their journeys in sport and life. Students asked thoughtful questions, which the athletes answered openly, giving everyone a chance to learn more about their experiences and achievements. The session was filled with laughter, inspiration, and a strong sense of connection, with autograph signing and photo opportunities that were enjoyed by all. Our Henbury community loved meeting such outstanding role models, who left us feeling motivated and proud to celebrate their visit.

GREEN 3
Green 3 would love to send a huge thank you out to Miss Amanda, her NTLC and band of other merry helpers who hosted the most fun Meaningful Maths Enrichment Day at Henbury School last Wednesday.
We measured distances between locations on campus using the trusty old trundle wheel. Thanks to our host Oliver for that. It took us a hot minute, but we finally got the hang of counting the clicks (when we could hear them above the fun).

We also tried to work out co-ordinates which was tricky with both positive and negative numbers to navigate. Fortunately, when we did get it worked out we were rewarded with treasure (in the form of a slightly melty Freddo – but there were no complaints from G3).
