Assistant Principal's Report
Dear Parents/Carers,
Hello to all members of our Henbury community. Six weeks in to our eleven week term and lots of things are happening. Please see below:
Nationally Consistent Collection of Data
All schools in Australia participate in the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (the national data collection). The national data collection is an annual collection that counts the number of school students with disability and the level of reasonable educational adjustment they are provided with.
This national data collection collects information about students with disability in a consistent, reliable and systematic way.
The national data collection draws on and reflects the ongoing work teachers and education staff do to support students with disability.
Forms have been sent home for parents to opt out of releasing your child's information. If you do NOT want your child's information to be counted, please send back the form by 30th May.
Moving to new School
Approval has been given by the Chief Executive DoE and supported by School Council for Henbury School to move across to the new school Week 1 Term 3. Monday 25 July is already a professional development day for staff with no students attending both on and off campus.
For all students that attend Henbury Campus, Tuesday 26 July to Friday 29 July 2016 will be pupil free days to enable staff to set up and fully establish classrooms in the new school.
For students on campus, the first day back at school will be Tuesday 2 August, as Monday 1 August is a Public Holiday.
Students and staff at all Outreach classes will resume classes on Tuesday 26 July.
Special Needs Transport - There will be no transport for students who attend Henbury Campus 26-29 July. There will be transport for students at Outreaches 26-29 July.
Vacation Care will operate for the pupil free week.
As a result of the move across to a new school and then settling in, a decision has been made to have no School Camp for 2016. If you allocated money from your Back to School Voucher, we will be in contact with you to see where you would like this money to be reallocated to.

Congratulations to Darwin High 2
Four of our students at Darwin High School's whole school assembly on the 6 May were announced winners of the Anti-Bullying video competition which involved students submitting some great videos and posters promoting the anti-bullying message. Congratulations to the DHS 2 Team (Dawyte, Rachel, Despina and Gerry) who produced the winning entry – their video titled Snap to the Future will be available on the Darwin High website soon. Congratulations also to our great teaching staff, Kathleen Middleton and Alysha Tizzoni.

Henbury School Staff Profile
Joan Ocampo
Hello everyone, I am Joan Ocampo, Science and Sustainability Teacher. I have been at Henbury for seven years and am privileged to work in different classes on campus and in outreaches. I was given the great opportunity to start and implement the science program across the school.
I was born in the Philippines. My dad's name is Romeo and my mum's name is Juliet. I have two other sisters, Jennifer and Jermaine. I am happily married to Alfredo for 24 years and have three lovely children, John, Jaz and Julia.
Regarding my teaching background, I have been teaching for around 18 years. I took my college and postgraduate studies in Manila. Earlier on, I was a teaching Principal in an International School and before coming to Australia worked as School Directress in a few colleges and universities overseas. In 2007, I came to Darwin as an international student. I studied at Charles Darwin University and before I completed by Masters in Education, I did relief teaching in some Catholic and Government schools around Darwin. I started teaching at Henbury in 2009. It is a great and rich experience witnessing how my students learn beyond expectations. Being a part of their continued learning progress and achievement is a huge blessing.

CSC 1
It has certainly been a busy Semester in CSC 1!
We would like to officially welcome our new SESO Leanne Chalker.
Leanne has been a welcome addition to our classroom, supporting the running of our class programs, but did you know she has a secret talent? In a previous life, Leanne was a hairdresser!
This term, Leanne has been involved in running Hair on Henbury, providing students with the opportunity to practice basic hairdressing skills. This program is a fantastic addition to the many other work programs already running at Henbury School.
