PURPLE 2

This year Purple 2 consists of five young men and three staff members. James, Deacon, Tom and Paulo are back and we welcome our newest student Simaki to our classroom. Wanderson and Jessica are back again and Meena has joined our team.

Over the first few weeks back at school we have been setting up our classroom, getting to know each other and learning routines. We have a lot of programs planned for Semester 1 including Rock and Water, Music Jam, Zumba, Bike riding, Swimming, Basketball, Shopping, Cooking, Human Growth and Development and Community Access. Of course we work hard each day on our literacy, numeracy and communication skills. This Term in Science we are working on a unit about our senses. Purple 2 is also very lucky this year to have Sue come in each week to work with us for a sensory session and Shannon to work on Enterprise Education.

In week 3 we were provided with the opportunity to have a ‘taste’ of the different working opportunities available at our school. We went around and tried Woodwork, Kitchen, Enterprise Education (sewing) and Horticulture. It was good for us to see the different pathways we can try at Henbury for Work Experience over the next few years!

That is all for now.

From the Purple 2 team.

PURPLE 3

This year we almost have a whole new tribe in Purple 3! All of our students are new, from Darwin, Northern Territory and other parts of Australia, Jane is new to the school, and Gina is here to help us through! The Purple 3 boys have settled in nicely to their new school. This week in Literacy we have been working on sentences and making our own. Each student has written a sentence about what they like at school so far.
