Principal’s Report
Parents/Carers
Welcome to 2020!
We have had a successful start to the year with students settling well into their classes and routines. Thank you Lauren and Dave and all our staff for their work in transitioning students into their new environments. Thank you parents and carers who have contacted us with any concerns they have in relation to changes this year. We really appreciate your input and encourage you to continually share knowledge of your children with staff.
Now that our students have settled in to their classes, please be aware that parents are not allowed on school grounds without being accompanied by a staff member with a valid OCHRE card. If you would like to speak to your child’s teacher please contact the school to arrange an appointment. Alternatively, if it is urgent, office staff can ring down to the class for you or you can meet with one of our senior staff members. If your child is struggling with separation in the morning, office staff can call down to the classroom and have a staff member meet you at the office. We trust you understand that this is a regulation and it is in place to protect your child whilst in our care.
We would like to congratulate our member for Solomon, Lauren Moss and her family on the birth of daughter Evelyn Rose. Lauren is a devoted supporter of Henbury School and we wish her all the best with motherhood and look forward to seeing her and Evelyn soon.

Nutrition and Community Access Programs
Nutrition programs and excursions out and about in the community are based on student contributions towards the purchase of food and cost for transport/venues. These programs are integral to teaching life skills in menu planning, nutritional value of food, shopping, meal preparation and involvement in activities within the community. These programs are voluntary. The costs for 2019 are $27.50/week for Nutrition and $8.50/week for Community Access excursions. Therefore a total of $36/week. Payments can be made via direct debit, cash, cheque, EFTPOS and Basics Card. Centrelink payment plans are also available. Please phone the school for more information.
Students who don’t participate in the nutrition program will need to bring their own food to school.
Please note that each student is required to pay the excursion cost of $8.50 per week. This covers the cost of entry into various community access sites, where a cost is required. If you have any questions please contact your child’s teacher. Students cannot access these programs if they still have outstanding money from 2019.
Back to School Voucher, Sports Voucher and Voluntary Contributions
The Northern Territory Government Back to School Voucher is $150. This money has to be acquitted by the end of Term 1. Parents/carers need to come into the Front Office and see Thalia and she will be able to help you with school uniforms, book packs, hygiene and grooming packs, camping or excursion fees. Parents need to state what they wish this voucher to be used for.
