SENIOR TEACHER REPORT

Parents/Guardians

A big hello to all who comprise the Henbury School community. Term 2 is almost at an end with some very important events yet to occur.

Progress reports and NTCET Modified reports will go home with students on the 25th of June. It's great to see our students making so much progress with their learning.

Sports Day will be held on Tuesday 23 June from 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM. Events such as team cheering, sprinting, shot put and long jump will be held on Henbury campus. A BBQ lunch will then follow at 12pm. This will be an in house sports day and not open to the school community in light of current COVID-19 restrictions.

Our next assembly will occur by video conferencing across the school on Tuesday week 10. Our fantastic learning commission will organise this unprecedented event to ensure that our school community can come together to celebrate student learning and achievements.

Crazy Hair day will be held on 26th of June. It is fun to see our students with a variety of hair colours, so don’t be shy on the day. A gold coin donation from each student will greatly assist children with Cystic Fibrosis.

A reminder that Footy Training will resume for students in Term 3 at Henbury School each Wednesday night from 3-4pm. Please contact our wonderful school counsellor, Natalie Althouse on 899 77077 to register your interest.

School Council met on Wednesday 10 June. One of the outcomes was the approval of the proposed half basketball court and solid shade cover. This will shorty go to tender. We will keep everyone updated on the progress.

CSC OUTREACH

This Semester is slipping by quickly as we head towards the end of Term 2.

We have been involved in working on our NTCETM tasks while forming strong friendships between our 2 classes.

Several guest speakers have visited us over this Term from the Darwin Convention Centre and WISE Employment Services. We have learnt about different job possibilities and how to improve our resume writing to assist with work readiness skills.

Jordan Riddle and his Mum, Yolande gave a great inspirational talk on Jordan’s successful Gardening business he owns. Jordan is a former student of Henbury School and attended the CSC Outreach class.

We’re presently enjoying the cool dry season weather and being able to return to our sessions on the tennis and basketball courts.

Hello everyone from the HOA team!

Over the last couple of weeks at Henbury on Aralia our staff and students have been working hard to prepare the café for re-opening. We’ve been measuring, moving, putting up new signs and doing everything we can to be COVID safe. We have been trialling new recipes, writing up the menu and practising our coffee skills. We have also been lucky enough to have the opportunity to assemble some new outdoor furniture, which came from a Darwin City Council community grant we won late last year.

We can’t wait to show you the results of our efforts!!

We will open again with our previous regular trading hours:

Thursdays 9:30am – 2pm
Fridays 9:30am – 2pm
Saturdays 9am – 1pm

(Kitchen closes 30 minutes before closing time)

PAWGUST GUIDE DOG CHALLENGE

PAWGUST is a fun yet challenging event that encourages people and their pooches to walk 30 minutes a day for 30 days during August. That’s roughly 2km per day, which is no small feat in the winter weather!

It promotes health and wellbeing, as well as a fun activity helping to bring families together every day for 30 minutes of fun! On top of this, all of the funds raised along the way will help our pawsome pups become pawfessional Guide Dogs right here in South Australia.

Registrations open! Individuals, teams and families can register here. They will receive a welcome pack and a Pawdometer so they can see just how many steps their furry best pal has walked! And for those more competitive families they can work towards winning some of our very kindly donated prizes along the way!

If you would like some more information on what PAWGUST is all about please jump on to the link below.
