I am already well underway with transition for Year 6 students from Nemarluk and a number of mainstream schools in our catchment area. We are looking forward to welcoming approximately 30 new faces to the Henbury School community for 2022. We have begun with some visits to our campus in Term 2 and 3, with students entering classrooms in Term 4.

GREETINGS FROM PURPLE 3

Purple 3 have been working all term on a Schoolyard Safari! We have been learning about all of the creatures great and small that inhabit the school grounds. Insects are everywhere and we have focused on cockroaches, spiders, ants, bees and ladybugs!

We have been learning about the Henbury School values. Our favourite one so far is compassion! We made a window display and kindness cups. Whenever we are kind to each other in Purple 3 we get a pompom for our cup and then a prize!

Compassion = Kindness

Fill up YOUR kindness cup!!

HI FROM PURPLE 4!

During Term 3, P4 and P5 started public bus training. We made two trips from Casuarina Bus Exchange to Henbury on Aralia in Nightcliff. Students’ helped to identify appropriate behaviour for waiting at the depot, such as talking quietly, remaining seated when possible, and waiting patiently. We read the bus timetable beforehand, and decided what time to catch the bus, and when to walk over to the Bus Exchange. We discussed how to show respectful behaviour on the bus and being considerate of others. Students were a little noisy on the first trip but did much better on the second trip.

Girls on the bus

When we arrived at Aralia St, we walked around the beachfront, then went to have lunch at the Henbury on Aralia. We had pre-booked a table with Raylee. Each student read the menu and decided on a drink and food item to order. They needed to add up the prices and ask for the money to pay. They then lined up and ordered, before bringing back the change. Everyone had fun, and developed confidence with bus travel and eating in a café!

CASUARINA SENIOR COLLEGE 1& 2

CSC 1 and 2 have had a busy, productive and fun Term 3.

We have been participating in The Balance Choice program with our 2022 transitioning students who are coming from SMS, DMS and NMS every Wednesday morning. The students have really enjoyed the team building activities and getting to know each other. 4018, 4011

Casuarina Senior College held their annual Careers Expo in Week 4. Our students enjoyed participating in some of the activities and visiting some of the business displays.

Our class is continuing to run its Sweet Treat business this semester. Each week we make a different yummy slice and we have a company in Winnellie that we sell them to. It’s always nice to get feedback on how great our treats taste.
