Halikos Presents Henbury Corporate Luncheon
This Luncheon was held Friday 4 December. This year we sold 328 tickets, had the school choir, band and Henbaru perform. What amazing performances. Thank you to NT Comedian Amy Hetherington, local group Indie Road and Minister for Education who also sang a song that was a secret auction Item. A big thank you to Sarah Corry and Vincent Poke who led the HCL Committee all year: comprised of Alysha Tizzoni, Aminah Djumadi, Anne McClelland, Carly Horsfall, Fleur Radovic, Janet Podsiadly, Leanne Shearer, Nicole Hennessy, Rod McKay, Sarah Penney and Thalia Kouros.
We don't have a total raised at the Luncheon at time of publishing. This will have to go onto Facebook and the Website.
Professional Development Day Friday 5 February 2016
School Council and the Executive Director for Henbury School have endorsed and approved a Professional development Day for all staff. This will be Friday 5 February 2016. All staff will undertake workshops on signing, Tobii Eye Gaze, PECS, Prologu2Go (iPads/iPods) and switches. This Professional Development day is aligned with the Department of Education Strategic Plan, Goal 2: Every student a successful learner and Strategy 1: Deliver quality teaching and a contemporary curriculum that is meaningful and differentiated to enable students to be successful learners through quality evidence based learning programs. Next year, the school will publish when workshops are on and these workshops will also be available for parents to attend.
There will be no school for students of Henbury, including Outreach Classes on this day. Special Needs Transport will not operate for students of Henbury School. OHSC will operate on this day. Please make contact with Pat to book your child in, if you wish to have your child attend OHSC for this day.
Real Estate Institute of the Northern Territory
On Friday 13 November, REINT President, Diane Davis, and Quentin Kilian, CEO visited Henbury School. They enjoyed a coffee and a scone with jam and presented a cheque for $3,600. This was the proceeds of the REINT Golf Day cart auction. This money will go towards our Work Readiness Programs for students. Thank you for this donation.
Back to School Voucher
All enrolled school-aged children across the Northern Territory are eligible to receive $150 to assist with the costs of education expenses. The $150 entitlement can be used during Term 1, 2016, to purchase essential school items through your child's school. Essential school items may include: uniforms; text books; stationery; hygiene packs, student identification cards; and costs for camps and excursions. Please see attached FAQ and Letter from the Education Minister.
Thank you to all students, parents, carers and business partners who have supported Henbury School during 2015. 2016 will be a significant milestone year with the school moving into the new school. I hope that you have a great break and I look forward to seeing all students back at school on Monday 25 January.

Nightcliff Middle School
The Nightcliff Middle School Outreach students entered artworks into the Rights on Show Art Exhibition, the theme this year was "Soil – Can You dig it?" In week 9 the students visited the NT Supreme Court to have a tour of the exhibition. Year 8 student Mihali Giallouris, was surprised and excited to find that he was a Highly Commended Winner. Mihali's art piece was about looking after our soil so that we can grow healthy food to eat. Mihali received a Certificate and a cheque for $50! Well done Mihali!
This year Nightcliff Outreach students have earned money through the class Sweet Treats business. Part of the money was used for class secret santa presents and a class lunch and end of year excursion. Money was also used to buy pet food to donate to the RSPCA and to also to buy presents for children in need through the Kmart Wishing Tree. It was great to see the boys learn about giving back to the community as well as spoiling themselves as we count down to Christmas.
